Achriesgill Cottage

Relax amidst stunning mountain scenery and glorious coastal beaches in the tiny hamlet of Achriesgill, two miles from the fishing village of Kinlochbervie, perched on the north west tip of Scotland.

This attractive converted croft sleeps 4-6 people. It is centrally heated and double glazed throughout.

It also has a cosy wood burning stove for those that love a real fire. Comforts include washing machine, dishwasher, tumble drier, colour TV, video and hi-fi. It has recently been fully modernised, decorated and furnished to a comfortable standard. The house and garden overlook Loch Inchard.

Kinlochbervie offers general stores, local hotels and restaurants. You can also watch the fishing boats arrive at port to sell their catches in the fish market, before buying some fresh fish for supper. Better still, you can catch your own. Boats can be hired locally for deep sea fishing and shore fishing is virtually unexploited. Fly fishing for wild brown trout and salmon is also available in the numerous lochs.

This corner of Scotland benefits from the warming effects of the Gulf Stream. You can try diving in the clear waters and explore wrecks, rock formations and sub-sea caves.An abundance of wildlife exists including seals, dolphins and red deer. It is also a bird watcher's paradise, with eagles and buzzards and some of the largest populations of sea birds in the UK. The nearby Handa Island Bird Sanctuary, renown for its Puffins and Gannets, and Cape Wrath peninsula are world renown bird sanctuaries.

Explore Sutherland's wilderness with its endless mountains, lochs and rivers or walk along the beautiful coast, with isolated long, clean sandy beaches and watch the sunset. The croft is within walking distance of

Sandwood Bay, one of this part of Scotland's most beautiful and isolated beaches, which can only be reached on foot. Other places of interest include the famous Smoo Cave at Durness where you can also find the UK's most northerly golf course and Europe's highest waterfall at Kylesku. Very enjoyable day trips include visits to John O'Groats, Ullapool, Lochinver, Cape Wrath, Handa Island and Inverness.
